Waikato-Tainui invested in its first hotel in 1999. Since then, we have added a further 3 hotels to our portfolio. Our hotel properties offer premium accommodations and amenities, ensuring high occupancy rates and strong returns for investors.

Novotel Hamilton Tainui is a 4.5 star, 217 room hotel located on the bank of the Waikato River in central Hamilton.

Novotel Auckland Airport Tainui Hotel
The hotel, which opened in 2011, has 263 rooms, conference and meeting facilities, and the Thirteen50 Bistro and Bar. The hotel was refurbished in 2022.

Te Arikinui Pullman Auckland Airport Hotel is a new five star, nine-level, 311 room hotel providing a stunning gateway at the front door of Auckland International Airport.

Ibis Tainui Hamilton Hotel
Located overlooking the Waikato River in central Hamilton, the 126 room, 3.5 star Ibis Hamilton Tainui hotel is operated by Accor for TGH.
Retail
Another commercial investment we manage is retail spaces. We choose to invest in properties located in high-traffic areas anchored by well-known retailers, providing a stable stream of rental income for our iwi.

The Base
This is New Zealand’s largest mixed use property asset outside of Auckland. The Base has been operated as a 50:50 joint venture with Kiwi Property since 2016.

A prominent 1.4 hectare central Hamilton retail centre jointly owned by TGH and Kiwi Property.

The Warehouse Building Hamilton CBD
In October 2021 TGH purchased the commercial building occupied by The Warehouse in central Hamilton.
Crown
TGH has experience managing a number of Crown-owned entities which are located on Waikato-Tainui whenua.

A new 8,500 sqm Green Star 4 rated regional centre for ACC, bringing renewal and vibrancy to the Hamilton central city as a workplace for 650 employees.

Police Stations
TGH owns the ground leases for 8 police stations across the Waikato region and the land and buildings of the architecturally designed Cambridge Police Station.

TGH holds 5 ground leases on Court Houses throughout the Waikato and South Auckland.
Commercial
Much of the whenua that was returned to Waikato-Tainui in 1995 has been leased.

TGH owns the whenua with Genesis Energy owning all of the improvements (buildings and infrastructure).

The University of Waikato opened in 1964 and today has a student population of around 13,000 students and 1500 staff.
